Surfing Hits Different (But Running Comes Close)

Hey crew,

There’s nothing—nothing—quite like surfing.

You paddle out, heart thumping, lungs burning. You sit, wait, watch. And then—boom—your moment comes. You spin, dig deep, and drop into a moving wall of ocean. For those few seconds, it’s just you and the wave. Total presence. Total stoke.

It’s a full-body yes from the universe.

But here's the thing: I don’t surf every day. Life happens. Flat spells. No ride. Work. Kids. Weather. Injuries. Logistics. You know the drill.

That’s where running steps in.

Running’s always there. No forecast required. No gear to load. Just shoes on, out the door, go.

And while it doesn’t have the same saltwater soul punch of surfing, there’s something raw and honest about it. When you find that rhythm—your breath syncing with your stride, your mind finally quiet—it’s like you’ve broken through a layer of noise you didn’t even realize was there. Running clears the fog. It softens the edges. It reminds you: you’re alive.

Surfing and running—they both unlock something. A better version of you. The version who feels strong, clear-headed, connected, grateful.

The version who says “yes” to life.

That’s what Stoke Buddy is really about.

Not just surfing. Not just running. But whatever gets you there whatever gets your heart pumping, your eyes wide, and your spirit lit up. And doing it with people who feel the same way.

Because let’s be real… it’s way easier to get out the door (or into the water) when you’ve got someone to share it with.

So this week, maybe it’s a solo jog at sunrise. Maybe it’s a choppy surf session with your buddy who doesn’t care if it’s glassy. Either way, honor that pull. Move your body. Find your breath. Fuel your stoke.

If you’ve never surfed let me know. Lets get you out there.
